OMNI TV Manitoba to launch November 14th with radio chief Poulton at helm

TORONTO – Geoff Poulton was introduced today as vice-president and general manager of Rogers OMNI TV Manitoba effective immediately.

OMNI TV Manitoba is the newly branded, newly licensed, yet-to-be-launched television station resulting from Rogers’ purchase of NOW TV and the subsequent approval by the CRTC (Public Notion 2005-207), as reported by www.cartt.ca. OMNI TV Manitoba is scheduled to launch Monday November 14th, 2005.

"We are pleased to have Geoff Poulton (right) leading the newest addition to the OMNI Television family," said Rogers Media Television’s CEO Leslie Sole, in making today’s announcement.

"Geoff’s experience in radio broadcasting and his extensive knowledge of the Manitoba market will be a valuable asset to OMNI TV Manitoba when it goes to air later this fall."

Poulton has worked for Rogers Broadcasting since 1989 in various roles and markets across Canada including Toronto, Kitchener, Whistler, Squamish and the Sunshine Coast. He will continue in his current role as vice-president and general manager of the Winnipeg Radio Group (92 CITI FM and 102 Clear FM).

Besides being an active volunteer in his community, Poulton also sits on the Red River College radio board as well as his position as Education Chair for the Broadcaster Association of Manitoba.

"I look forward to the successful launch of OMNI Manitoba later this year," says Geoff Poulton. "Not only is this an exciting opportunity for me professionally, but this new service will enhance the television landscape in the province. OMNI TV Manitoba will fill a void in the area of multi-faith television by reflecting the ever-changing face of our diverse audience."

Once OMNI TV Manitoba launches, viewers will be treated to some local productions along with a number of all time favorites such as Everybody Loves Raymond, Home Improvement, King of Queens and Touched by an Angel.

Rogers OMNI Television is a free over-the-air system consisting of four regional broadcasters covering nine markets in British Columbia (Victoria, Vancouver, and Fraser Valley), Manitoba (Winnipeg), and Ontario (Ottawa-Gatineau, London, Kitchener-Waterloo, Hamilton and the Greater Toronto Area).
