Obituary: Teledistribution Amos founder Edouard Dufresne

AMOS, QC – The Quebec cable industry has lost another pioneer with the passing of Édouard Dufresne, who died March 3, just one day after his colleague Omer Girard died in Magog, QC. Dufresne was 87. He founded Teledistribution Amos in 1957, serving six small towns and villages in Abitibi. A statement from his son Pierre credited Dufresne as the first Canadian cable operator to air a hockey game on community TV.
