MARKHAM, ONT. — The Ontario Association of Broadcasters (OAB) is inviting its members to submit their best station promotions for a new award to be presented at the OAB’s annual conference in November.
The new Promotion Award will be awarded to the station that best promotes itself, with campaigns judged on originality and creativity, impact in the community, programming goals achieved, and benefits to the station, listeners, sponsors and revenue. Promotion Award winners will be selected in both Large and Small Market categories.
Winning campaigns will have online components, be focused and multi-faceted, using different station resources. To be eligible for the award, station promotions must have run during the 2015/2016 broadcast year.
The new Promotion Award complements the OAB’s existing Community Service Awards, which are presented to stations for their outstanding contributions of airtime and staffing to worthwhile organizations in their respective communities. The OAB says its Community Service Awards program acknowledges the generosity of broadcasters and also recognizes the creativity in creating a successful public service campaign. Often the success of these causes relies on the broadcaster’s ability to promote and encourage people, the OAB says.
The OAB invites all Ontario member stations to send in their best station promotions and public service campaigns to the OAB Awards program before Friday, October 21. Award winners will be announced at the OAB Connection 2016 annual conference, to be held Thursday, November 10 at the Marriott Toronto Airport Hotel at 901 Dixon Road in Toronto.
