OAB announces 2020 Pro Radio Contest winners


MARKHAM — The Ontario Association of Broadcasters (OAB) announced the winners of its 2020 Pro Radio Contest which recognizes radio creative that promotes the power of the medium.

Out of a total of 35 entries, five winners in three categories were awarded cash prizes for their radio spots.

The 2020 Pro Radio Contest winners are:

  1. The Power of Radio During an Emergency (large-scale emergencies or Amber alerts) tied for the win are:
    1. Chris Hunchak, production/creative manager, Byrnes Communications Inc., for “OAB Emergency”
    2. Kieran Berry, creative writer, Durham Radio Inc., for “Power of Radio — Amber Alert”
  2. The Power of Advertising on Radio (for business owners):
    1. Kyle Taylor, creative director, Indie88, for “The Power of Advertising on Radio”
  3. The Power of Local Radio (listener and community benefits) tied for the win are:
    1. Chris Hunchak, production/creative manager, for Byrnes Communications Inc., for “OAB Local Radio”
    2. RJ Lowe, writer; Ethan Ralph, producer; Vanda Di Michele and Abe Peters, voice talent; Fanshawe College, for “Local Radio 5”

The OAB is inviting radio stations to use the winning creative spots to remind listeners of the value of radio. The winning spots can be downloaded here.
