Nortel confirms Ciena’s interest in optical networking, carrier Ethernet business

TORONTO – Nortel Networks confirmed that it is in “advanced discussions” with Ciena Corp. for the planned sale of its global optical networking and carrier Ethernet businesses.It called the outcome of these discussions “uncertain”, and subject to negotiation of definitive agreements.Any agreements would be subject to a competitive bidding process to be approved by the U.S. bankruptcy court and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.www.nortel.com
