TORONTO – Nortel Networks finalized the sale of its remaining patents and patent applications Friday to a consortium of Apple, EMC, Ericsson, Microsoft, Research In Motion and Sony, for a cash purchase price of US$4.5 billion.As Cartt.ca reported, the extensive patent portfolio spanned wireless, wireless 4G, data networking, optical, voice, Internet, service provider, semiconductors and other patents.The sale received Canadian and U.S. Court approvals this week.www.nortel.com
