MONTREAL — Bell Media announced today the new drama series L’Homme qui aimait trop (The Man Who Loved Too Much) will premiere Jan. 11 at 8 p.m. ET on Noovo and Noovo.ca.
Written by Anne Boyer and Michel d’Astous and directed by Yves Christian Fournier, this series is “an atypical story, a psychological drama, which tackles head-on the themes of infidelity, betrayal and polyamory,” says an English translation of Bell Media’s French-language press release.
Consisting of eight 60-minute episodes, L’Homme qui aimait trop follows the fate of Marc-Alexandre Moisan (played by Patrice Godin, above, second from left), “a good father and respectable man, whose reality is divided between his work as a sales representative and his two conjugal and family lives,” reads the English translation.
“Marc-Alexandre has skilfully led, for two years now, a double existence without anyone knowing, between Montreal and Magog,” the release explains. “Neither spouse suspects the existence of the other…until the hazards of life come to reveal everything.”
Also starring in the series are Hélène Florent (above, left), Fanny Mallette (second from right), Nadia Kounda (right), Martin-David Peters, Romy Bouchard, Milya Corbeil-Gauvreau, Arnaud Vachon, Jean-Simon Leduc, Mali Corbeil-Gauvreau, Patrice Dubois and Reda Guerinik.
“L’Homme qui aimait trop seduced us with its way of getting into the mind of a character as complex as Marc-Alexandre. Approaching infidelity and lying from the point of view of the perpetrator is unheard of,” says Sophie Parizeau, general manager of fiction for Bell Media, in the English translation.
“Collaborating with such a strong team, both in the production and the interpretation, gives a unique vision to this tumultuous story,” Parizeau says.
Throughout the season, Noovo.ca will unveil six interviews with people living this type of polyamorous lifestyle that, although in the minority, is increasingly common, according to the press release.
In these interview capsules, “a sexologist explains certain notions of polyamory such as the management of jealousy, the notion of double life, the impact on the family, etc.,” says the release.
L’Homme qui aimait trop is produced by Duo Productions in collaboration with Bell Media.
