Noovo offers first look at new comedy Le Maître du Jeu

MONTREAL — Bell Media’s Noovo today unveiled the first photos of Le Maître du Jeu (Master of the Game), a new comedy show coming to Noovo this fall.

Le Maître de Jeu is a Quebec adaptation of the British game show Taskmaster, and is hosted by Louis Morissette (above) alongside his assistant Antoine Vézina. The Quebec series was originally announced in April.

In this 12-episode, 60-minute variety show, Morissette and Vézina “will impose a series of fun challenges that will test the creativity and ingenuity of a group of five comedians made up of Mehdi Bousaidan, Ève Côté, Christine Morency, Matthieu Pepper and Jo Cormier,” reads an English translation of Bell Media’s French press release.

Each week, the comedians compete to accumulate the most points to win the episode and that week’s “wacky” prize. The personality who wins the most episodes overall will ultimately be crowned champion of the season, the release explains.

Filming of the challenges took place at facilities in Mont St-Bruno over the past few weeks, with Vézina there to guide and supervise the five competitors. The studio portion of the show will be filmed from July 31 to Aug. 8, according to the release.

Le Maître du Jeu is produced by KOTV in collaboration with Bell Media. The show is directed by Daniel Vigneault and Marc-Oliver Valiquette.

The original Taskmaster is based on a UK format by Avalon TV that has been adapted in 12 markets around the world, including New Zealand, Portugal, the Nordics and Croatia.
