OTTAWA — Nokia announced today as part of its continued partnership with Area X.O (formerly known as the Ottawa L5 and led by Invest Ottawa) it will deploy 4.9G/LTE and 5G private wireless solutions and Nokia drone networks via Area X.O’s 5G Mobile Command Centre van (above) as part of a cross-Canada road trip.
The organizations are embarking on the tour to demonstrate to emergency responders and industry verticals how they can use private wireless “for increased situational awareness to aid in unsafe conditions and help prevent disasters,” reads the Nokia press release.
Backed by funding from the government of Canada through FedDev Ontario, Nokia and Area X.O are working with InDro Robotics to enable companies to grow their business with private wireless for industrial and public safety applications, says the release. In addition to public safety, other 5G use-cases to be demonstrated during the 5G road tour include mining, rural broadband and hydroelectric applications.
In addition to Nokia’s private wireless solutions and drones, the Area X.O van is equipped with Nokia’s Integrated Operators Center (IOC), which provides “a unified real-time view into all assets, bringing efficiency with analytics integration, while facilitating rapid response based on automated workflows across multiple applications,” reads the release.
The 5G van will visit at least 10 locations over the next 12 months, says the release.
