OTTAWA – Direct broadcast satellite Nimiq 6 has commenced commercial services for Bell TV, Telesat announced late Friday. Launched last month and located at 91.1 degrees West, the bird carries 32 high powered Ku-band transponders that are fully contracted to Bell TV for 15 years. “Telesat has achieved an important objective with the entry into service of Nimiq 6,” said Dan Goldberg, Telesat president and CEO, in the announcement.
