
DUFFERIN COUNTY – The governments of Ontario and Canada and Southwestern Integrated Fibre Technology (SWIFT) announced today 638 more homes, farms and businesses in Dufferin County now have access to high-speed Internet through North Frontenac Telephone Company (NFTC).
“In partnership with SWIFT, NFTC has completed construction of a 62-kilometre fibre-optic network in the municipalities of Amaranth and Mono to bring high-speed internet connectivity to many more residents located in the communities of Laurel, Camilla and Salem,” a press release issued by SWIFT says.
According to SWIFT’s website, construction on the project was completed at the end of April, and the final network in-service date was June 10.
The total project value is $4.1 million. The governments of Ontario and Canada provided $2.3 million for project, split evenly, contributed through SWIFT.
