nextMEDIA to precede Banff

TORONTO – The future of digital content will be the focus of the upcoming nextMEDIA 2007 event in Banff, bringing together content producers, TV and media executives, technology companies, and web entrepreneurs.

The event, the sister conference to the Banff World Television Festival (June 10-13) will take place June 8-10 at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel and provide the latest information on emerging platform distribution and offer a marketplace for digital content producers from Canada and around the world.

The three-day nextMEDIA conference will feature a comprehensive program of keynote speakers, panel discussions, briefing sessions, in-depth case studies, and interviews, as well as formal and informal networking sessions. Last year’s event generated over $2 million in business leads for attending delegates.

New to the nextMEDIA program is a social networking site developed in partnership with PikSpot Groups, a Canadian Web 2.0 company. The site is scheduled to launch in mid-February and will offer digital content producers the opportunity to upload their own text, photos and videos. Group members will be able to network with each other, view and “vote” on content.

Additional marketplace opportunities open to digital content producers include one-on-one “Interactive Exchange” sessions and a pitching competition. Event producers plan to leverage the participation of international media executives and organizations in the social-networking site, and will be developing programming around digital content posted to the website.

Delegates will be able to take advantage of a special discount for both the Banff World Television Festival and nextMEDIA when they register for nextMEDIA.
