Nexicom expands fibre network to Lakefield and Bridgenorth, Ont.

MILLBROOK, Ont. — Independent telecom provider Nexicom Inc. announced today it recently completed construction of new fibre networks in Lakefield and Bridgenorth, Ont., as part of the continued expansion of its ultra-high speed fibre-optic network throughout Peterborough and Northumberland counties.

“The new 1 Gig Bridgenorth & Lakefield networks will provide a pure fibre optic network connection to over 2,000 homes and 150 businesses,” reads a Nexicom press release.

“While providing internet speeds up to 1 Gig, Nexicom will now be able to offer rural residents customizable digital television and telephone options never before seen. Live stream, on-line gaming, viewing Netflix, and working from home have never been easier,” the release says.

Nexicom did not receive any government funding for the recently completed Lakefield and Bridgenorth projects, said Tina Thornton, special projects manager at Nexicom, in an email to Cartt.ca.

The company also announced today it is close to completion of its fibre network in its hometown of Millbrook, Ont., and new networks are currently under construction in the communities of Warsaw, Douro, Keene, Hiawatha, South Monaghan, Bailieboro, Bewdley, Elizabethville, Garden Hill and Campbellcroft.

“We understand that home and business owners in traditional rural communities need reliable and affordable high-speed internet now more than ever, and we are proud to be the company that answers the call,” said Thornton, in the press release.
