Effective October 5, the station will be known simply as NewsTalk 1010, dropping its historic call letters.
The station has also signed John Tory to host its new ‘Live Drive’ show from 4 – 7 p.m. Monday to Friday, and has moved popular host Bill Carroll to the 9 – 1 p.m. slot in preparation for his syndicated show which will air nationally later this year.
John Moore takes on the morning show which runs from 5:30 – 9 a.m. during the week, Jim Richards will move to the 1 – 3 p.m. time slot, and Ryan Doyle will remain in the 7 -10 p.m. time period.
The station said that its focus will continue to be to deliver the news of the day in a way that makes it matter to Torontonians. It also plans to give more air time to its newscasters and reporters as their stories become more intertwined with the host’s content throughout the day.
