TORONTO – Corus’ History is readying a new companion virtual reality app that will anchor the promotional campaign for the next installment of hit series Vikings.
Free and available exclusively in Canada, the VR app will allow users experience the world of Vikings within a 360 degree space, providing an authentic sense of depth in every direction. Using either Google cardboard units or VR headsets on YouTube or Facebook, users may experience an intense battle scene, a discussion about war strategy between Ragnar’s sons, and the telling of a prophecy from the mystical Seer, in addition to other exclusive VR content.
The Vikings VR app promises to immerse users into a real scene of the show, shot on the real Vikings set in Ireland, alongside real cast members of the series – including a pivotal new character in season 5, played Golden Globe-winning actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers, who makes his on-screen debut during the season 4 finale on February 1 at 9:00 PM ET on History.
Corus has developed the app with the Vikings creative and production team from Canadian companies Take 5 Productions as well as Thinkingbox.
