VANCOUVER – Community initiatives around the Lower Mainland will receive a $500,000 boost from Telus every year thanks to the new Telus Vancouver Community Board.
Telus president and CEO Darren Entwistle today announced the launch of the board as part of a new national philanthropic program. Charitable organizations are invited to apply for up to $20,000 in one-time funding for projects in the areas of health and wellness, education and sport, and arts and culture, with a focus on youth and the innovative use of technology.
"We are looking to members of the Telus Vancouver Community Board for the local insight, knowledge and inspiration to determine where and how we can donate funds to optimize the benefits that accrue to the community," said Entwistle, in a release. "They will also play key roles in helping Telus identify where best to deploy our executives who are willing and anxious to lend their time to serve the Lower Mainland’s community and business organizations.
