TORONTO — Sportsnet is launching a new interview series, Top of Her Game, which will celebrate and profile female leaders in sport and culture, Rogers Sports and Media announced Monday.
Hosted by Tara Slone, the weekly 30-minute show will premiere Sunday, June 28 at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT on Sportsnet One and Sportsnet Now with an in-depth discussion with WWE’s Stephanie McMahon and Charlotte Flair.
In addition to the weekly televised episodes airing on Sundays over the next several weeks, the interviews will also be available online the following day on sportsnet.ca and Sportsnet’s YouTube channel.
“When it comes to sports and gender, there is still much work to be done to level the playing field in terms of pay, opportunity, representation and coverage,” said Slone, in the news release. “With Top of Her Game, we are using our platform to showcase the power, strength and resilience of the women who have blazed trails and the ones who continue to light the world on fire. These are stories that deserve to be told and journeys that deserve to be chronicled.”
The interview series will feature discussions with the following female athletes, builders and rising stars:
- Stephanie McMahon, WWE chief brand officer, and Charlotte Flair, WWE 10-times women’s champion
- Kim Davis, NHL executive vice-president of growth initiatives and legislative affairs
- Waneek Horn-Miller, Olympian and first Mohawk woman to compete in Summer Olympic Games
- Mathea Olin, future Summer Games Olympian and Canada’s first Pan American surfing medallist
- Chantal Petitclerc, Canada’s most decorated Paralympian and Quebec senator
Top of Her Game episodes will also include contributions from Sportsnet’s Caroline Cameron, Hazel Mae, Danielle Michaud, Nikki Reyes, Christine Simpson and Evanka Osmak.
“Each week, we have the privilege of sharing the stories of women who overcame the odds and laid the foundation for the next generation,” said Sportsnet executive producer Alison Redmond, in the news release. “In creating Top of Her Game, we honour the work of these ground-breakers by celebrating their contributions, but also by creating a space to have the hard conversations around representation and opportunity in sport for everyone.”
Details about the show’s broadcast schedule and future guests will be available online at sportsnet.ca/schedule and across Sportsnet’s social media channels.
