New Speed Channel-Rogers deal includes VOD

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Speed Channel today announced the completion of a new multiyear affiliate agreement for the distribution of Speed Channel on Rogers Cable systems in Canada.

The agreement also contains access to Speed’s video on demand service, offering 20 hours of programming that will include NASCAR TV On Demand’s 24-hour turnaround of post race analysis and an event highlight package, as well as Speed events and original programming.

“Canadian distribution is very important to Speed. Not only are some of our top shows produced in Canada but the fans are very passionate about their racing,” said Kevin Annison, vice-president of operations and business development. “Speed is pleased with the renewal of its contract with Rogers Cable and looks forward to a long relationship with one of Canada’s largest and most respected distributors.”

Speed has continued to grow in Canada since it was launched here in 1997 under the Speedvision name. Since the network was purchased by FOX in 2001, it has rapidly grown all over North America.

Speed Channel is dedicated to motor sports and everything automotive. From racing to restoration, motorcycles to movies, it delivers quality programming from the track to the garage. Now available in nearly 70 million homes in North America, Speed Channel is among the fastest growing sports cable networks in the country.
