MISSISSAUGA and TORONTO – Samsung Electronics Canada is behind a new immersive new play space at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) that allows patients to explore, connect and create with Samsung technology.

Located on the 9th floor of the Toronto hospital, the Samsung Space is an interactive digital environment stocked with gear including a 75" SUHD Samsung television, a variety of Samsung GearVR virtual reality headsets, a Samsung Synced Interactive Table that allows visitors to go 'hands-on' with their favourite apps or games, as well as Samsung Gear360 cameras, Samsung Galaxy View and Galaxy Tab E devices.

Open six days a week to in-patients at SickKids, children and families are now able to be together in a relaxing environment away from the clinical areas, allowing them to gather to watch TV, play games, or simply spend time together.  The Space also intends to provide a sense of normalcy to patients and families going through a difficult illness or treatment.

"We continue to be inspired by the courageous young patients at SickKids”, said Samsung Canada chief brand officer Mark Childs, in the news release.  “As part of our continued, meaningful partnership with SickKids, we hope this new Samsung Space can make a difference by providing fun experiences that allow children to be children and help bring them closer to the people, places and moments they miss most.”
