New original series Roast Battle Canada coming to CTV Comedy

Matchups for season one announced

TORONTO – CTV Comedy Channel announced today the matchups for its new original series Roast Battle Canada, which will debut Oct. 11 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT.

“The eight-episode, half hour series features some of Canada’s most cutthroat comics going burn-for-burn in a weekly war of words,” a press release says.

“Each episode of Roast Battle Canada features two scorching standoffs between a pair of razor-sharp comics looking to be crowned battle victor by the distinguished panel of judges. Ready to prove they can deliver the superior jabs, the rules are simple – come prepared with original material, and contact should be of the verbal variety only.”

The first two episodes will feature matchups between Daniel Woodrow and Keith Pedro, Brittany Lyseng and Mike Rita, Jarrett Campbell and Sophie Buddle, and Hannan Younis and Stacey McGunnigle.

Roast Battle Canada is hosted by Ennis Esmer. Russell Peters and Sabrina Jalees are judges along with K. Trevor Wilson, a semi-finalist on season one of the U.S. TV series Jeff Ross Presents: Roast Battle.

The show “builds on the success of Bell Media’s French-language version Roast Battle: Le Grande Duel,” the press release says.

It is produced by CTV Comedy in association with Just For Laughs Television and Counterfeit Pictures.

Executive producers include Bruce Hill, president of Just For Laughs, Anton Leo, Dan Bennett and Shane Corkey of Counterfeit Pictures and Russell Peters. Shelagh O’Brien is the director.

New episodes will be available to stream on CTV.ca and the CTV app.
