New on-line advertising guidelines to be released Tuesday

OTTAWA – Canada’s privacy commissioner Jennifer Stoddart is poised to outline the privacy dos and don'ts for the use of on-line behavioural advertising during a keynote address Tuesday in Toronto. Commissioner Stoddart has been vocal about the lack of both visibility and meaningful consent with respect to on-line tracking, profiling and targeting.  Speaking at a marketing and law conference, she will also release a new guidance document designed to help advertisers, websites, browser developers and other organizations involved in on-line behavioural advertising ensure their practices are in compliance with Canada's federal private-sector privacy law, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act...
