New Noovo web series shines spotlight on emerging artists

MONTREAL — Bell Media’s Noovo.ca today launched Plaisir coupant (Cutting Pleasure), a new original web series hosted by pop’n’roll singer-songwriter Simon Kearney (above) that brings together food and music in a colourful way while showcasing emerging Quebec artists.

In this seven-episode series, Kearney welcomes an artist to his home on Île d’Orléans to cook “and each episode inevitably ends in the recording studio,” explains an English translation of Bell Media’s French press release.

“Accompanied by a mystery guest, these music enthusiasts take up one of the songs of the artist in the spotlight by adding a flavour to it… Plaisir coupant!” the English translation reads.

“For me, the Plaisir coupant web series is the meeting of my most intrinsic passions: music, cooking and friends,” Kearney said in the release.

“I am delighted to have been able to receive artists that I admire in my house near the St. Lawrence River, and to make Île d’Orléans shine. It’s a one-of-a-kind show that puts new local talent front and centre and I’m very grateful for what we were able to accomplish with the help of Noovo.ca’s production.”

Plaisir coupant is produced by 9e Vague and ROMEO in collaboration with Bell Media, with the financial participation of Musicaction and SODEC.

The series of seven 20-minute episodes is an original idea of Kearney and director Anthony Coveney.

All episodes are available now on Noovo.ca and a trailer is available here. In addition, a playlist of songs by artists featured in the series is available on iHeartRadio, and recipes from the series can be found on Noovomoi.ca.
