MONTREAL – Videotron is rolling out an enhanced version of its illico digital TV service that will allow customers to use their remotes to access interactive entertainment and information embedded in particular programs such as music, weather, local information, voting and polling.
Using Cisco’s HD set-top box platform, illico TV new generation also includes a new interface with redesigned ergonomics for intuitive navigation. Features include a new search tool to sort content by title, director, actor or keyword; a customizable program guide; and the ability to choose a display configuration for on-demand content.
The new platform will be available in the Québec City area, Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean and Rivière-du-Loup starting April 4, and in the Greater Montréal area by the end of summer.
“With the advent of illico TV new generation, our vision of offering our customers the most advanced television experience has become a reality,” said president and CEO Robert Dépatie, in the announcement. “More than 500 Videotron employees worked to create a powerful platform tailored to the needs of Quebecers and featuring navigation functionalities that stand apart from everything else on the market by virtue of their simplicity and intuitiveness.”
