New Idol spin-off on broadband only

TORONTO – CTV’s latest series will be shown only on CTV.ca

All Access, a spin-off of Canadian Idol, will premier July 20 on CTV.ca as a weekly show which takes viewers behind the scenes of the top-rated singing series.

Canadian Idol: All Access delivers a third night of Idol programming that takes viewers behind the scenes of the show. The nine-episode series – "a first for North America," says the broadcaster – will be available on-demand on the CTV Broadband Network at CTV.ca. Beginning July 26, Canadian Idol: All Access will become available Thursdays at 4 p.m. ET.

Hosted by Canadian Idol reporter Dave Kerr, Canadian Idol: All Access sums up each week’s events by showing viewers what happens beyond the television screen. All Access will focus on content that Canadian Idol doesn’t provide, with cameras recording the action before, during and after each performance and results shows.

"Canadian Idol’s on-demand recaps… are some of (CTV.ca’s) most-accessed content," said Kris Faibish, vice-president, digital media, CTV. "All Access is a great natural extension… it really lets fans connect with the competitors and their intense, roller-coaster journey through the Top 10."
