New Global station CHBC cuts 11 jobs

KELOWNA – The newest member of the Global TV network issued layoff notices to 11 staff members late last week.A CHBC-TV spokesperson confirmed to Cartt.ca that the layoffs “were not unexpected”, and that they impacted mostly the master control department as the station prepares to move its master control operations to Calgary.Executive assistant Joy Winterlik declined to comment on whether the layoffs were specifically related to the station’s rebranding from E! to Global TV earlier this month, but did say that employees have been given assurances that there will be no more layoffs in the short term.Approximately 43 people remain working at the station.
