TORONTO – Encore+ is partnering with Hot Docs on a new collection of Canadian productions previously screened at either Hot Docs Festival or the Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema, or which have been created by Hot Docs production fund recipients or market program alumni.
The Hot Docs Collection Playlist on Encore+ is available now for free with English and French-language titles such as Kanhesatake:270 Years of Resistance, Rocks at Whiskey Trench, Actuality: The Art and Life of Allan King, Tu as crié Let Me Go, Yo-Yo Ma: Inspired by Bach, Pour la suite du monde, and Au Chic Resto Pop.
The Playlist will also stream The National Parks Project, a 13-episode series that follows several of the country’s most acclaimed filmmakers and musicians as they explore and perform live in Canada’s national parks.
“Encore+ offers an extraordinary catalogue of Canadian film and TV favourites, and we are thrilled to welcome these iconic titles curated by Hot Docs to the growing family of memorable productions featured on the channel,” said Canada Media Fund president and CEO Valerie Creighton, in the news release. “Through this initiative and thanks to the international reputation Hot Docs has established as one of the world’s largest documentary festivals, beloved documentaries are given back to audiences through this online hub that showcases and celebrates Canada’s stories.”
Working closely with Canada’s film and television producers, distributors, broadcasters, unions, guilds and other industry associations, Encore+ is spearheaded by the Canada Media Fund (CMF) with support from Google Canada, Bell Media, BroadbandTV (BBTV), and Deluxe Toronto. Telefilm Canada is also a key partner in this endeavor, providing financial and promotional support.
