HAMILTON – Channel Zero-owned CHCH has developed a grassroots strategy to help boost its appeal with local advertisers.
The independent broadcaster has kicked off a promotion aimed at local businesses in Hamilton, Halton and Niagara encouraging them to tune in for a chance to win a $5,000 television advertising campaign. Called ‘Whose News Are You Watching’, the contest will distribute about 250,000 decals reading ‘We’re Watching CHCH’ through local newspapers or by contacting the station via email at wearewatching@chch.com.
Businesses are asked to stick their decal to their front window or door and tune in to CHCH in the hopes that they’ll be spotted by the channel’s street patrol team which hits the streets starting August 13. The contest closes September 26.
“As establishments across Hamilton, Niagara and Halton tune their sets to CHCH, not only do they provide their customers with the best of the area’s news – they also get to promote their business,” said Chris Fuoco, Channel Zero’s VP of sales and marketing, in the announcement.
“We see this as a win-win situation for CHCH and participating businesses: we get more viewers during daytime hours, the business receives recognition for tuning in to CHCH, and they have up to six chances to win a $5000 airtime campaign. For current advertisers, they get the added advantage of increased exposure for their commercials as more TV sets get tuned into CHCH outside of the home.”
