TORONTO – Calling all aspiring filmmakers, the CBC wants to hear from you.

CBC Docs has issued a call to the next generation of Canadian documentary filmmakers wishing to create original digital documentary content for CBC.  It is looking for stand‐alone concepts which focus on a single, strong, unified narrative approximately five to 15 minutes in length. Content should be distinctive, contemporary, character‐driven and relevant to Canadians, and subject matter and style maybe be broad in scope.

Pitches are being accepted immediately, with the first round of submissions being accepted until November 1, 2015 and content must be produced and delivered between now and April 2016. Accepted projects will be released on CBC’s digital platforms and social channels.  Further information on how to pitch is available here.

“We're excited to be working with the next generation of doc-makers in Canada, and to put their work on the national stage,” said Jennifer Dettman, ‎CBC’s executive director of unscripted content, in the news release.  “We hope they'll come to us with really innovative ideas that will draw an even wider audience to short‐form docs in the digital space.”
