TORONTO – Bell Media is cooking up a new culinary adventure series that pairs food with family history.

In collaboration with genealogy company Ancestry and Gusto Worldwide Media, DNA Dinners follows 16 participants as they take an AncestryDNA test to discover their genetic origins. As the adventure continues, chefs are brought in to explore the cuisine and cooking techniques of each participant’s background.

Based on an innovative format created by Gusto Worldwide Media president and CEO Chris Knight and produced by the Ottawa-based company, the 16-episode, half-hour series is currently in production in Toronto and Ottawa.  It is hosted by etalk reporter Tyrone Edwards.

“As Gusto’s content portfolio expands, we continue to build on the strength of its unique original programs,” said Pat DiVittorio, Bell Media’s VP CTV and Specialty Programming, in the news release. “Coupling food and the popularity of Ancestry’s family history adventures is clearly a recipe for success.”
