TORONTO – Worried about how to keep the kids entertained this summer? Forget camp – Netflix will help you entertain them for way less.
Aimed at parents of school-age children “daunted” by the challenge of finding things for their kids to do during long summer days, Netflix today announced the launch of its new Netflix Families destination website.
The new Families page features curated lists of family and kids programming organized by kid-friendly genres superheroes, princesses, dinosaurs and girl power. There’s also an “Are We There Yet” list of TV shows and movies ideal for watching on your tablet in the airport, as well as a “TV for Curious Kids” list of shows to keep young minds active – or at least as active as they can be sitting in front of TV or tablet screen.
The listings also include ratings and reviews from Common Sense Media, a non-profit organization that provides independent ratings and information to help parents make child-friendly media choices.
The Netflix Families page also offers a video tutorial for tech-challenged parents on how to set up the streaming network to TVs, game consoles, and other devices. Or you may just want to ask your kids to help you.
