Netflix expands support for Android-powered devices

LOS GATOS, CA – Netflix has launched a new app that allows members with Android-powered smart phones and tablets to stream its TV and movie content.

The Netflix App for Android, announced Wednesday, adds Android 3.x-powered tablets to the list of Android devices supported by Netflix in Canada, the U.S. and Latin America.  Users must first install version 1.5 of the Netflix App, which is available now as a free download from the Android Market.

"We are excited to now offer the Netflix service on tablets running Android 3.x and are thrilled to offer our members in Canada and Latin America another way to enjoy TV episodes and movies streaming from Netflix," said Greg Peters, VP of product development, in the announcement.  "With the added support for Android-powered devices, Netflix members have greater flexibility than ever in watching TV episodes and movies wherever and whenever they want."
