Netflix adds Radio-Canada shows

TORONTO – Netflix and Radio-Canada have announced a multi-year licensing agreement to bring a variety of the public broadcaster’s French Canadian series to Netflix members in Canada.

Beginning today, season one of the long running hit comedy Les Parent is available to watch instantly. Also, past seasons of series including the bittersweet family drama La Galere, and acclaimed documentary Amour Haine et Propagande will be available by the end of the year. Netflix members will be able to instantly watch these titles and many more streamed over the Internet to over 800 connected TVs, tablets, game consoles, computers, media players and mobile phones.

"We are excited to partner with Radio-Canada and add these great French Canadian titles to our growing catalogue of serialized TV," said Jerry Kowal, Director of Content Acquisition. "Adding high-quality content to our service in Canada remains a priority, and we are excited to bring such a rich mixture of series to our members throughout the country."

"Radio-Canada is proud of this agreement with Netflix, which reflects our commitment to providing home-grown audiences with our original Canadian content, when, where and how they want it," said Jean Mongeau, Executive Director of the Radio-Canada Revenue Group. "Radio-Canada is pleased to be able to explore new business models like the one proposed by Netflix."
