WASHINGTON – Most attendees noted that the 2016 INTX show (formerly the NCTA Cable Show) in Boston was about the smallest anyone could recall. As of today, it was also the final one, after 65 years of cable shows.

In a blog post today, NCTA CEO Michael Powell announced the organization has decided to retire its annual cable conference – one which had been rebranded to INTX in order to reflect the industry’s shift towards broadband and other services. This announcement comes a week after the lobbying organization announced a re-brand.

“We are now exploring new and better ways to tell our story, to gather our community, to advance our growth and present our vision of the future. We believe large trade show floors, dotted with exhibit booths and stilted schedules have become an anachronism.  Contemporary venues emphasize conversation, dialog, and more intimate opportunities to explore and interact with technology. Ending INTX gives us a clean slate and we are excited to explore presenting our industry in new and different ways,” wrote Powell (pictured on stage at last year’s gathering).
