Nat Geo freeview takes advantage of world headlines

TORONTO – National Geographic Channel will be free to Canadian digital subscribers for a full month, from mid-April to mid-May, allowing close to five million Canadian homes to view the history-making Gospel of Judas, and the exclusive Da Vinci Code Weekend.

The world premiere of the Gospel of Judas on April 9th nearly doubled previous viewing records for National Geographic Channel in Canada, achieving the largest audience for a program on the network outside of a free preview promotion, says Alliance Atlantis, owners of the channel.

"The recent international media storm around the discovery of the Gospel of Judas has created incredible interest in seeing the documentary," said Vanessa Case, vice-president, content for National Geographic Channel.

Depending on the TV service provider, National Geographic Channel will be available for a month, with most Canadians having free access to the channel between April 20th and May 20th. For specific dates and air times, click here.

"The timing couldn’t be better for this free preview," added vice-president affiliate marketing Chris Fuoco. "National Geographic Channel already has a tremendously strong subscriber base in Canada and with this free preview, many more homes across the country will be able to experience (it)."
