NAB Show tunes in to Mobile TV

WASHINGTON, DC – The mobile TV platform will take centre stage at next month’s NAB Show in Las Vegas.

A panel discussion known as ‘Mobile TV: A Path to the Future’ will examine scenarios and potential business models for future mobile TV use and address consumer demand for the service.  Discussion topics include best practices for breaking into the mobile video market, understanding consumer viewing habits, and the debate over ad-supported or subscription-based on-line programming.

“The competitive environment is critical in this conversation”, said panel moderator Gary Arlen, president of Arlen Communications. "We’ll look at mobile broadcast TV in the context of other Web-based video services that are available on wireless devices and as Apps on smart phones. We’ll discuss what it takes for mobile TV to become a ‘mainstream’ service, and we’ll try to identify some realistic timetables for this process."

Scheduled for April 11, panelists will include Saul Berman, global strategy and change services leader for IBM Global Business Services; John Elliott, partner at Accenture Mobility; John Fletcher, analyst at SNL Kagan; Randa Minkarah, VP business development at Fisher Communications Inc.; and Erik Moreno, SVP corporate development at Fox.

The Mobile DTV Pavilion, located in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, will also showcase products and services from more than a dozen organizations instrumental in the rollout of mobile DTV.

The NAB Show, held annually in Las Vegas, is the world’s largest electronic media show covering filmed entertainment and the development, management and delivery of content across all mediums.  Conferences run April 9 – 14 while exhibits will be open April 11 – 14, 2011.
