NAB Show 2020 cancelled

LAS VEGAS — Next month’s NAB Show 2020 has been cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak in the U.S. and around the world, the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) announced Wednesday. NAB Show 2020 had been scheduled to take place in Las Vegas from April 18-22.

In a statement posted to the association’s website, NAB president and CEO Gordon Smith said: “In the interest of addressing the health and safety concerns of our stakeholders and in consultation with partners throughout the media and entertainment industry, we have decided not to move forward with NAB Show in April. We are currently considering a number of potential alternatives to create the best possible experience for our community.”

Smith goes on to say the association is weighing the best potential path forward “so that we can provide a productive setting where the industry can engage with the latest technology, hear from industry thought leaders and make the game-changing connections that drive our industry forward.”

Included at the end of Smith’s statement is an FAQ which attempts to address a number of issues, such as how the April show’s cancellation affects exhibitors and whether the show is being rescheduled or costs are being refunded.

According to the FAQ, the NAB Show New York will take place as scheduled in October 2020.

NAB Show is the world’s largest annual gathering of radio and TV broadcasters and their suppliers.
