TORONTO – Billing it as Canada’s first "self-personalizing" home page, mysportsnet.ca is just about set for release.
"Mysportsnet.ca will revolutionize how users of the web manipulate their personal content," said Dave Ballingall, vice-president, marketing, for the Rogers Media owned sports channel. "Rather than taking the time and effort to organize favourites, users will automatically have their preferred web sites, news and e-mail delivered to their home page."
All it takes is a free download and users will see Mysportsnet learn their surfing web behaviour and present content intuitively on their computer screen. The home page will, of course, feature updated content from Sportsnet, too and those users can add and delete content from other sites viewed on their Mysportsnet home page as they wish.
Plus, they don’t have to be all sports sites to qualify for the home page.
For example, users may have their home page tailored to include information about the Toronto Maple Leafs, Raptors and Blue Jays as well as lifestyle or news sections, depending on their web use patterns.
Another Sportsnet release Monday says that channel has secured the rights to show NHL highlights on Sportsnet.ca and Rogers Wireless phones.
The deal runs through 2009 and covers all league games, including playoffs and finals, including this year’s Stanley Cup final.
