LOUISVILLE, Colo. – The French-language TV channel MusiquePlus is automating its workflow of digitized video content across a web of ingest, storage and delivery platforms.
The new software will enable MusiquePlus to transition from tape-based to tapeless workflow to improve efficiency and broadcast consistency at the station.
“Like us, many broadcasters in Canada have chosen to use Front Porch Digital,” said Mario Cusson, vice-president of technologies at MusiquePlus, of his chosen technology, in a release. “Our decision was based on the merits of the product and the way it fit into our unique workflow. We required a flexible system, one we could customize to our needs that would also work seamlessly with multiple other systems.”
Systems integrator Applied Electronics collaborated with MusiquePlus to devise a workflow in which DIVArchive is directed by ProConsultant’s LOUISE integrated traffic scheduler. Working in the background, DIVArchive identifies content by its metadata and handles it according to customized rules developed by MusiquePlus – making copies for archives or for browsing, and/or transcoding the content for streaming to the Web, to mobile phones, and via FTP to the Montreal airport’s TV monitors.
“Repurposing content across multiple distribution channels is essential to businesses like MusiquePlus,” said Dave Polyard, Front Porch Digital senior vice-president of sales for the Americas. “DIVArchive was designed to manage content throughout its life cycle in exactly the sort of complex content and storage environment MusiquePlus represents.”
MusiquePlus is currently testing its new system and training staff and plans to have fully implemented the solution before spring 2008.
