TORONTO — SiriusXM announced Tuesday a lineup of more than 45 musicians, actors, athletes, comics and other celebrities will step in as guest DJs on a suite of limited-engagement channels dedicated to iconic music artists.
Launched earlier this month, the special artist-branded channels feature the music of David Bowie, Fleetwood Mac, George Strait, Metallica, Prince and The Rolling Stones, among other artists. The guest DJs will play their favourite songs as well as offer exclusive commentary, recalling significant moments for them tied to the artist’s songs and special memories, says the news release.
Some of the special moments during the guest DJ sessions will include Naomi Campbell remembering meeting Prince for the first time in Paris when she was 17 years old, Ricky Gervais recalling seeing David Bowie performing Heroes on television and how it still sends chills down his spine when he hears the song, and Sharon Stone letting listeners know how Fleetwood Mac’s “Sentimental Lady” brings her back to her college days and reminds her of her college boyfriend.
Other notable guest DJs on the limited-run artist channels include Beck, Billy Corgan, Eli and Peyton Manning, Joan Jett, Joe Manganiello, Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum, Maya Rudolph and Rob Zombie.
