WINNIPEG – Subscribers to MTS Allstream’s high-speed Internet service will have access to more than 300 Wi-Fi hotspots across Canada as the telco has partnered with FatPort, Canada’s largest public Wi-Fi provider.
Customers can use the service with any Wi-Fi-enabled device, such as a laptop or PDA, for free until Sept. 30. After that, they’ll have to subscribe to a package, such as a $20 a month unlimited Wi-Fi access plan, and bundles with high-speed, MTS television, and mobile phone services that can save customers between $10 and $15 a month.
"We are very pleased to team up with FatPort to offer this service to our customers. They have a great chain of hotspots, and we are going to be adding more of our own before the end of the year to provide customers with even more access," said Kelvin Shepherd, President Consumer Markets, MTS
Allstream Inc. "This is another great feature that sets MTS High Speed Internet apart from the competition."
Shepherd noted the growing popularity of mobile Internet access among not just business customers, but consumers of all stripes who want to surf the Net or check email when they’re on the go.
The service is available at FatPort hotspots in restaurants, cafés, and hotels across Canada.
