WINNIPEG – Calling all aspiring young filmmakers, MTS Future First has opened registration for its annual Digital Media Camp.

All youth in Manitoba 15 to 24 years of age with a passion for filmmaking are encouraged to register before the June 30 deadline.  From July 14 – July 18, 12 youth will work as a team with notable Manitoba filmmakers to create a short film that will premiere at the Gimli Film Festival on July 27, 2014.

Award-winning screenwriter/director Danishka Esterhazy and cinematographer Tyler Funk, along with MTS TV Stories from Home producers Cam Bennett and Kim Bell, will provide instruction, support and hands-on experience throughout the week. Participants work together on all aspects of production, from screenwriting to production to editing.

The MTS Digital Media Camp, a partnership between MTS and the Gimli Film Festival, is based at Lakeview Resort and Conference Centre in Gimli, Manitoba.

"We're thrilled to bring this unique opportunity to young filmmakers in Manitoba," said Paul Beauregard, MTS chief corporate & strategy officer, in the news release. "The province's film industry is world-renowned, and we're eager to nurture the next generation of Manitoba filmmakers."
