MTS buys an independent cableco

WINNIPEG – Another small western cable company has been sold, but the buyer is different this time.

MTS Allstream today announced that it has purchased the 3,700-customer Valley Cable Vision. VCV provides cable TV service to 13 communities in south central Manitoba, including Morden and Winkler, and also provides high-speed Internet service to Morden, Winkler and Altona. The company has 150 cable high speed Internet customers.

“This transaction advances our strategy of being Manitoba’s leading full service provider of wireline, wireless, broadband internet, and television services,” said Kelvin Shepherd, president, consumer markets, MTS Allstream, in the press release.

“We look forward to building on Valley Vision’s strong tradition of serving cable television customers in the Pembina Valley, and being able to offer an expanded suite of communications and entertainment service options that meet their needs.”
