TORONTO — MTS Allstream Inc. was named Thursday as the exclusive telecommunications sponsor of Pollution Probe’s Clean Air Commute, a campaign that encourages Toronto residents to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality.
The Clean Air Commute program, now in its 15th year, runs from June 18-22. Last year, employees from 120 companies committed to take public transit, carpools, and other ways to commute to work, resulting in an estimated reduction of 429 tonnes of air pollutants.
“MTS Allstream is proud to be the telecommunications sponsor for Clean Air Commute,” said MTS Allstream president of Enterprise Solutions John MacDonald. “We are committed to reducing our impact on the environment and, through our solutions and programs, helping our customers and employees minimize their impact as well.”
MTS noted that telework programs, videoconferencing and online collaboration can significantly reduce the amount of air pollution a company produces – with most of these types of services being offered by MTS Allstream’s Enterprise Solutions division.
Many of the MTS Allstream’s Greater Toronto Area employees are participating in this week’s Clean Air Commute.
Pollution Probe is a not-for-profit environmental organization focused on air quality and climate change.
