MTS adds music downloads

WINNIPEG – Wireless customers of MTS Allstream in Manitoba can now choose from over one million full-length songs and download them to their cell phones or computers with the MTS Full Track Music service.

"Today, wireless is about much more than phone calls, and this service can make your wireless device into much more than a phone," said Stan Kurtas, vice-president marketing, consumer markets, MTS Allstream. "This service offers customers access to a huge variety of different music right on their cell phones. Subscribers can even download a copy for use on their computer or preview a 30-second clip before they make a purchase."

The MTS Mobile Music Store is powered by Groove Mobile and will provide full-track music downloads direct to mobile handsets, access to multiple charts, high quality album art downloads, shop and play, browsing, and previews.

The music service will also support "dual downloading", a process which allows customers to purchase music over the air, download a copy of the track to their handset, and get a copy delivered to their personal computer. They will then have the flexibility of playing the track on their laptop or computer, transferring it onto an MP3 player, or burning it onto a CD.

The MTS Full Track Music service can be accessed anywhere within MTS Allstream’s high speed EVDO wireless data network in Manitoba.
