MSN Messenger goes wireless with Bell Canada

TORONTO – Bell Canada says it’s the first company in Canada to offer MSN Messenger on mobile phones, targeting the millions of people who currently use the instant messaging service on their computers.

Bell customers will be able to send and receive MSN messages they type on their mobile phones to people on their contact list who are using the service on a PC or Bell mobile phone.

“Delivering the rich MSN Messenger experience on mobile phones, including access to emoticons and contact lists to see who is online, is another example of how Bell is leading the way for integrated communications for all Canadians,” says David Inns, Vice-President, Consumer Marketing, Bell Mobility.

Bell Mobility is initially launching four instant message-ready handsets, with more to follow this year. Bell Mobility customers can get MSN Messenger on select handsets for $3 per month. Unlimited messaging without any transfer fees is available to customers who subscribe to the $5 Mobile Browser bundle or one of Bell Mobility’s $35 and up rate plans that include the Mobile Browser bundles.
