Mrs. America miniseries premieres April 15 on FX


TORONTO — With Rogers Media’s free preview of its FX specialty channel now extended until May 11, the broadcaster announced the new Mrs. America limited series starring Cate Blanchett will premiere in Canada on FX and online on FX Now starting April 15.

The nine-part miniseries, featuring Blanchett as conservative firebrand Phyliss Schlafly, tells the story of the movement to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), and the unexpected backlash it brought about. Portraying some of the most iconic women of the era, the cast also includes Rose Byrne (Bridesmaids) as Gloria Steinem, Margo Martindale (American Crime Story) as Bella Abzug, Uzo Aduba (Orange is the New Black) as Shirley Chisholm, Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games) as Jill Ruckelshaus, and Tracey Ullman (The Tracey Ullman Show) as Betty Friedan. Additional cast members include Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story) and John Slattery (Avengers: End Game, Mad Men). The Mrs. America series begins Wednesday, April 15 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX and FX Now.

Before Mrs. America premieres, season two of What We Do in the Shadows returns to FX with two half-hour episodes on April 15 starting at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Participating carriers for the FX free preview include Rogers, Access Communications, Cogeco, Eastlink, SaskTel, Shaw (starting April 11), Telus, Videotron, and many more (check with your local carrier). Along with FX, viewers will also have a chance to preview FXX.
