TORONTO – As a short film channel, Movieola’s programming never fell into the usual slots of digital television’s electronic program guide.
So this week, it launched its own permanent version. The world’s first cable channel devoted entirely to short film content has undergone a bold new facelift in response to viewer feedback, the channel announced today. Integrating a new information palette, the channel now provides its loyal viewers with key information they need to get the most from their short film viewing experience (see below).
Viewers are now able to see the title and a brief synopsis of the film they are viewing in the "Now Playing" box while the "Up Next" frame offers the title and a brief description of the next film as well as the time remaining on the current film being viewed.
Along with these features, the new screen frame also displays Movieola -The Short Film Channel’s award-winning spotlights, and promotional videos.
"These changes represent a year of assessment of our viewer feedback and Movieola – The Short Film Channel’s ongoing commitment to our viewers," said Cal Millar vice-president and general manager of Channel Zero, Movieola’s parent company.
"Our audiences were looking for a more prominent way to access information about our short films than the conventional television ‘guide’ system can provide, and we feel that this new look addresses that need.”
Movieola – The Short Film Channel presents the very best of action, drama and comedy films that can all be enjoyed in less than 40 minutes, from celebrated Academy Award and Film Festival winners, to cult favorites.
