Mountain Cablevision to provide phone service to Hamilton-Wentworth schools

HAMILTON – Mountain Cablevision has won the phone business of the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board, providing the schools in the area and the board’s main offices with their cable telephony service.

Mountain Cablevision will be responsible for providing service to 115 schools, plus the board’s main offices, which equates to over 600 phone lines in total. The switch meant the school board has been able to save a significant amount on expenditures for their phone service, says the press release.

"Not only does this project provide us with real cost savings, it also lays the foundation for the future development of a unified communications strategy as we continue to move forward with our plans to integrate voice and data over our fibre wide area network," said Michael Hiltz, manager of computer services for the board.

“We here at Mountain are very happy and excited to enter into this partnership with the school board and continue to work with community partners,” added John Piercy, president of Mountain Cable.

“The addition of the school board underlines our commitment of continued growth with providing service to the business sector as well as adding to our increasing group of business customers,” added Piercy.

Mountain Cablevision’s current business customers include the Haldimand County municipal buildings, Hamilton International Airport and the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum.

Mountain Cablevision Ltd provides cable, internet and telephone service to over 40,000 customers located in Hamilton, Mount Hope, Binbrook, Byng, Caledonia, Cayuga, Hagersville, Dunnville, Jarvis and Townsend.
