TORONTO — Bell Media today announced more cast members for its new half-hour CTV Original comedy Children Ruin Everything.
Joining previously announced lead actress Meaghan Rath (Being Human, Hawaii Five-0) is Aaron Abrams (above left, Blindspot, Hannibal) who stars in the leading role of James, a supportive and loving husband to Astrid (Rath) and father of two. The series follows the couple as they struggle to find a balance between being parents to two kids and being who they were before offspring.
In addition, Ennis Esmer (centre, Blindspot, Schitt’s Creek, Private Eyes) and Nazneen Contractor (right, Ransom, Heroes Reborn, The Border) are also joining the cast. Esmer is portraying Ennis, James’s co-worker and best friend who wants as few responsibilities as possible, and Contractor plays Dawn, Astrid’s successful, blunt and mildly pretentious sister.
The eight-episode, half-hour series is produced by New Metric Media in association with CTV. The series is created by Emmy Award winner and Golden Globe Award nominee Kurt Smeaton (Schitt’s Creek, Kim’s Convenience). Alongside Smeaton, Chuck Tatham (Modern Family, Arrested Development) joins Mark Montefiore (Letterkenny, What Would Sal Do?) as executive producer. Beth Iley (Killjoys) serves as producer.
Bell Media Distribution is the international rights holder for Children Ruin Everything and New Metric Media is the exclusive sales agent for the series.
An anticipated premiere date for the series has not been announced.
