TORONTO – Scott Moore, director of CBC Sports and general manager of the CBC Revenue Group, is leaving CBC effective immediately.
Tuesday’s surprise announcement did not include details on Moore’s next steps, though Cartt.ca has learned that announcement is scheduled to be made on Wednesday. Responsibility for CBC Sports will be assumed on an interim basis by its senior director David Masse, while broadcast industry veteran Jack Tomik will lead the CBC Revenue Group, responsible for marketing, sales and business development.
"Scott’s tenure covered an eventful period in the Canadian broadcasting industry generally and at CBC as well," said Kirstine Stewart, interim executive vice president of CBC English Services, in the announcement. "He has left CBC Sports and our revenue group well-positioned to build on their existing strengths. We’d like to thank Scott for his contributions to the organization over the past four years."
Moore described his decision to leave CBC as “difficult”.
“It’s been a privilege to work with great colleagues on some of the best sports programming in the world and to help build a sales and marketing team that has grown the business despite considerable market adversity”, he said. “I’ll always be proud of this place and what it does."
CBC said that a search plan for the executive director of CBC Sports is being finalized.
